About the Internet

The Internet links the library to a wealth of data. However, its open forum aspect has attracted some information you may consider inappropriate for your children. To let you decide about your children's access to the Internet through ACL, the library has persons under the age of 18 obtain parental permission before using the Internet computers. Permission forms are available ONLY when a parent or guardian is present. Forms will be checked on a regular basis to ensure that permission is granted and those without forms will not be able to access the internet. This policy relieves the library staff from responsibility in their choices. There is a one hour limit per day.

You must have your library card with you to access internet! If a fine has accumulated on your account, you must be actively paying a significant amount on it each month or you may not access internet.

Internet Access Guidelines

The Internet is an unregulated medium. As such , while it offers access to a wealth of materials that is personally, professionally and culturally enriching to individuals of all ages, it also enables access to some materials that may be offensive, disturbing and/or illegal. The library can not protect customers from information they may find offensive.

Children under the age of 18 may not access the Internet unless their parent, local guardian of local custodian is present. Permission slips must be signed at the library with staff present. Parents and/or legal guardians who are concerned about their children's use of the Internet must provide guidance to their own children.

The Library Staff will assist customers as time allows.

Ask the customers to choose appropriate sites.

If a customer does not do so or repeatedly returns to inappropriate sites, the customer will be denied access to the library's internet for the balance of the day.

Repeat offenders will be reported to the Librarian/Asst. Librarian and Internet privileges will be denied for up to one (1) week.
